What is Share of Voice?

Share of voice is the proportion of the total conversation or visibility in a market that a brand owns, relative to its competitors, across channels like search, social, and media.

In content marketing, share of voice measures how present you are where your audience pays attention — how often you show up in relevant search results, feeds, and, increasingly, AI answers — compared to competitors.

It is a useful north-star for a content program because it is competitive and cumulative: consistent publishing steadily raises your share while sporadic effort lets it decay.

For a niche like a specific financial-services segment, a focused firm can realistically build a dominant share of voice that broad, unfocused competitors cannot.
