SEO & AEO
What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of optimizing content to appear in and influence the responses generated by AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.
GEO is often used interchangeably with AEO. Where a distinction is drawn, GEO emphasizes influencing what generative models produce — including being cited, summarized, and recommended — while AEO emphasizes being the source of a direct answer.
In practice the work is the same for most firms: publish authoritative, well-structured, factually precise content; earn mentions and citations across the web; and make everything machine-readable. Generative systems assemble answers from patterns and sources, so both what you say and how clearly you structure it matter.
For a financial firm, the durable GEO advantage is genuine expertise expressed clearly — something generic content mills cannot fake.
