SEO & AEO

What is Schema Markup (Structured Data)?

Schema markup is structured data, usually written in JSON-LD using the schema.org vocabulary, that labels the meaning of a page's content so search and AI engines can understand and reuse it.

Search engines and answer engines read HTML, but HTML describes layout, not meaning. Schema markup adds a machine-readable layer that says 'this is an Organization,' 'this is an FAQ,' 'this is an Article by this author, published on this date.'

That clarity powers rich results (like FAQ and How-To snippets) and helps AI engines attribute facts to the right entity — which is how a firm gets cited by name. Common types for content sites include Organization, Article, FAQPage, HowTo, BreadcrumbList, and DefinedTerm.

Schema markup is one of the highest-leverage AEO investments because it is unambiguous and fully within your control.
