What is Topical Authority?
Topical authority is the depth and breadth of trusted coverage a site has on a subject, which search and answer engines use as a signal that it is a credible source to rank and cite.
Rather than chasing one keyword, a firm builds topical authority by covering a subject comprehensively — the core concept, the adjacent questions, the edge cases — and interlinking it all. Engines interpret that completeness as expertise.
For a financial firm, this is a natural advantage: you already have deep, specific knowledge of your niche. Turning it into a connected body of content (a pillar and its clusters) signals authority in a way scattered one-off posts never do.
Authority compounds. Each well-linked piece raises the credibility of the others.
